What is needed to operate a DC charger?
-Mains voltage 400V-3-phase L1 / L2 / L3 / Neutral / PE
-A fuse of e.g. 80A for a 120KW charging station
-If the charging station is to be accessible to everyone, you need a backend (billing partner) that connects to the charging station via the OCPP interface.

How fast does a DC fast charger charge my electric car?
An electric car such as a VW ID 4 with an 82 KWh battery needs to charge from 0% to 80%:
With a DC fast charger with 180 KW power, the vehicle needs only 37 minutes !
For comparison, this is how long an electric car needs
At the household socket (230V) 28 hours.
At the wallbox with 11 KW at home the vehicle needs 6 hours.
How do fast chargers work?
There are several options here:
Location-bound via activation on site!
Example: A parking lot operator has a DC fast charger, a customer wants to charge his car. The operator activates the fast charger and reads the electricity used after the charging process and bills the customer. For example, 26 KW/h were charged, so 26 x 70ALL = 1,820 ALL
About billing partners!
The customer looks for a backend partner (payment provider) who connects to the charger via the OCPP interface. The customer can now activate the charge using a credit card, and the money for the charge is then conveniently debited from the customer's credit card.
About RFID card!
For example, there is a charger in a taxi company's depot, and all taxis have an RFID card with which you can activate the charging process and charge your taxis.

What cable cross-section do I need for my electric car charger / wallbox?
For a wallbox / electric car charger with 11 KW, you must lay the following cable cross-sections from the power distributor to the charging station:
Up to 5 meters: cable 5x 2.5 mm²
Up to 15 meters: cable 5x 4 mm²
Up to 30 meters: cable 5x 6 mm²

Yes, this is possible! With our Optima-Portable you can use any household socket with the adapter from 16A CEE to 230V Schuko (household socket).
How safe is a mobile electric car charger?
